Diana is only six years old, yet she has already carried a weight far too heavy for her little shoulders. She is the firstborn in her family, but her childhood has been filled with pain and unanswered questions.
It has now been four years since her mother disappeared, never to return. Before that, Diana’s father had passed away, leaving her mother pregnant with Diana’s younger brother. After giving birth, her mother walked away, and no one has ever seen her again. Since then, Diana and her brother have known the world only through tears and struggle.
Their grandmother stepped in and became their everything. She worked tirelessly, finding farm jobs so they could have something to eat. With her wrinkled hands, she ploughed the land, teaching Diana that even in suffering, you can fight to survive. For a brief moment, Diana tasted what school felt like with one month of learning, but poverty pulled her out, and she has never been back since.
Tragically, the only pillar she had, her grandmother, was laid to rest. Now Diana and her little brother are truly alone. They do not know their mother’s or father’s families. They have no relatives to run to, no place to call “home.” At night, they knock on doors, searching for food, praying someone will have mercy. It is risky, dangerous, and frightening. Yet they have no other choice.
Diana often feels lost and confused. She does not understand why life has been this cruel, why other children laugh in classrooms while she roams the streets with her brother. Still, somewhere deep in her heart, she holds on to hope – hope that one day, God will make a way.
Will you make a gift to rescue children in desperate need like Diana?
Every child deserves a better life. Every child deserves to learn, to laugh, and to dream. Diana and her brother are not just another sad story they are a generation beginning again, praying that someone will believe in them, love them, and give them a chance.
May their story remind us that even in the darkest moments, we can be the light someone else is praying for.
May God richly bless you, lots of love.
